Flat Stanley Project
Doing Flat Stanley Project at Ladera International School was one great experience. On the first day of doing this project, I did an introduction to the whole purpose of the Flat Stanley Project to the students.I gave them an overview of what we will be doing for the whole week and what was my expectations with them after this project. Later on I showed them a template of the Flat Stanley that they will be using for this project and describe the whole process of what the possibilities that their Stanley can look and turn out to be. As students become more familiarize and understand the purpose and process of the project, I gave them their own Flat Stanley template to use. With this template, they can do whatever they please (making it into a girl, or a boy). I also gave them a homework, which include getting a hold of an address that they will be sending their flat Stanley letters to its destination. Before wrapping up my lesson for the day I told them to keep their flat Stanley start looking for a name to name their Stanley. The following day, we continue with the templates and had them name their flat Stanley, which we had them introduce them to the rest of the class. Later on the day I introduced them with daily journals. I explain the purpose and the importance of these tasks that is a part of the project. For next following days we worked on our daily journals, which they had to take their flat Stanley with them and explain their journeys together during school time and at their homes. I have created a word banks that they can use when they do not know how to spell the words. I also edited their work to makes sure that it kind of make sense and the person receiving their journals understand what they have to say. On the following week, I had them collect souvenirs that they will be inserting into their packet that they will be sending to their destination. I also pin pointed out on the map where some of their flat Stanley destination. On the last day, I made sure that everything is ready to be send off their their destination. Ladera were very accommodating in sending them with all expense paid for.
I really enjoyed working with Ms. Marissa's 2nd grade students. They were fun to work with and easy to manage in completing this project. Although I as nervous at first, just because I wasn't sure how private schools handle their classroom procedures and all, but after the whole experience, i think it's not that bad to teach at a private school. One thing I really like this school, is how theres not much students in the the classroom. I only had seven students, isn't that amazing. Now that is a teachers dream. All in all I believe that I did an excellent job in carrying out my duties and responsibilities in making sure that this project is a success. I have gained a lot of valuable information on ways I can teach my future students, especially incorporating Flat Stanley as a part of my lessons. It is a very interesting, fun, and plus students are engaging in a meaningful learning experiences. It also a mixture of integration of different subjects; writing, reading, social studies, art, etc. I had so much fun with my students of Ladera International School along with support of Ms. Marissa McGuire. Thank you Ladera International School, I had so much fun and it was a truly memorable learning experience. I learned so much. Thanks.

After completing this assignment, I have gained so many valuable information that I can use later on in the near future. I can honestly say that creating these whole project was somewhat difficult and somewhat easy for me, basically because I did it all on my own with out absolutely no one there to guide me. I am so proud of myself. But other then trying to struggle in completing this project, I competely had so much fun! I learned that you can use slideshare to upload any power point presentation that you would like for others to view. I knew that we can create power point to present a certain topic to our classmates or to our instructors in the classroom, but I never knew that you can upload it into a web2.0 software or the net for everyone who has an access to a computer to view your presentation. The world of technology just amazes me everyday.
If I had a choice to do this project all over again, I would definitely use slideshare software to upload all my presentations and other projects that require for others to view online.
This topic would be very useful for teachers to use and incorporate into their curriculum or teaching strategies, because it provides potential to improve students' motivation when applied to open-ended tasks. And when students engage in meaningful open-ended tasks, their motivation increases and the effect of learning is more powerful.

Engrade-Online Gradebook
Engrade is one amazing online grading system for any teacher to use. Its a user-friendly online gradebook designed for all grade levels and the best part of it, IT'S FREE!! This program enables parents and students to log in to view grades and monitor their progress. I really like is how it is very easy and simple to use. It guides new users how to create a new account, select appropriate criteria, entering grades, attendance, calendar to maintain the per semester or for the whole school year record of homework assignments and so forth. Using online grading, especially Engrade, is and in thing now. I know that a lot of teachers are doing electronic grading because of it's accessibility and convenience in terms of confidentiality. Go Engrade!!

Flat Stanley Rubric
Rubrics is a great scoring tool for teachers to use when assessing their students individually or as a whole. It provides guidelines and criteria for what you expect your students to complete on each given task or class assignments. During my grade school years, I remember my teachers never used this type of assessment for us to base ourselves on what to expect during class activities or projects. All she had us do is lecture and explain what is expected and that's all. I think as long as you participate in the activity, then you're good, but it wasn't that very structured. On the other hand, using a rubric for students to know what is expected of them when doing an assignment in or out of class can be very useful and helpful, because they see what types of criteria and points that they can achieve when accomplishing that certain task(s). I am currently doing my practicums at the schools, and believe me rubrics are the it thing right now (for most teachers). But I find it very helpful when it comes to assessing my students work when being given to them. I also like how my teachers (S.O.E instructors) provides us with rubrics because it makes it much easier to meet their standards when achieving what type of grade you would deserve when meeting those criteria given
Using RubiStar to create my rubric was quick and easy to use. I really like how it's all there, all you need to do is choose which type of criteria you would like to have in your rubric. It also provides you to create you rubric from scratch, instead of using what is already provided in the program. I wish that all teachers can use rubrics to assess students work or performances in class, because believe me it's so much easier for the teacher and for your students. Rubrics Forever!

Flat Stanley Crossword
Instead of using an Excel program to create this crossword, I used a free software online program called "Crossword Weaver". I find it very easy to use and well, what can I say, it's free. Although there is a catch to using this program, I think you have to purchase it online before you can actually transfer the whole application or document that you've created to wherever it is that you wanted to transfer your work to. But I copied and pasted my crossword unto a word document and then used a snippy to copy my image as a j peg. This how I was able to upload my image into my blog. So hope you enjoy and like how I created my Flat Stanley Crossword.

OCEAN LIFE WEB QUEST
This Web Quest project is based upon Ocean Life surrounding the beautiful islands of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Our group decided to work on this topic because we wanted to bring a sense of awareness to the students in the CNMI about the importance of our marine resources. It will be a great asset for our future generation and thereafter, to become better environmentalist so that we can live a better, healthier, and abundance future. After completing this project, students will be able to have a sense of understanding about the importance of our marine environment and the different types of life in our surrounding ocean of the CNMI. In addition, students will be able to identify different ways they can help and be better involve in maintaining and preserving our marine resources. Upon completing this web quest, students will work collaboratively in groups as well as working individually to achieve the same common goal in completing this task. Not only will students work collaboratively, but it also taps into the different learning styles. This activity provides students with a great opportunity to expand their knowledge while using technology as a part of learning. Instead of the old traditional way of teaching, teachers can integrate technology into their curriculum by using technologies and it's resources that it has to offer, like using web quest and other useful tools.
Before starting this project, our group mates were having a little trouble in deciding what topic we wanted to do for our web quest just because there a bunch of topics that were very interesting, but later on we decided that we wanted to focus our topic on ocean life in the CNMI. I was a little confused and lost when we started this project, just because it was my first time to ever work on a web quest before, but thanks to my group members we manage to help each other along the way making it a successful web quest project. Also, using instantprojects.org as a tool in creating this web quest was very useful and easy to use. I would use this website to create my web quest in the near future when I do become a classroom teacher. The next time I plan in creating a web quest, I will use the same website, but also try to explore other web quest tools that are out their waiting to be used.

My Mind Mapping
I chose to do a mind map about Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle, because its such an interesting and fascinating as well for kids to learn about how different types of father fishes actually carries the eggs until it hatches. The reason why I chose this book is that not a lot of people, especially kids know for a fact that not only are the eggs are cared for by a parent, but surprisingly by the father. I really enjoy reading this book, because it features a watercolor illustrations, which I think it's so cool, because it kind of relates to the ocean life how it so colorful and is full of life. It's such an easy book to read and understand. I would recommend this book to all ages, especially for kids at the age of seven.
I chose this type of mind mapping because it is very easy to read and understand. It illustrates the beginning, middle, and the end of the story. It also provides the names and pictures of characters for students to see and relate with the story.
Using Gliffy to create my mind mapping is much easier than the other types of software that I tried using. Although you have to be familiar with all the components of the software, but other than that it's such an idealistic software to use. Its such an easy software for teachers and students to access and the best part, it's free!
